Bioeffect Flagship Store

The Bioeffect flagship store in central Reykjavík translates the brand’s biotechnology origins into spatial form. Organized around a central triangular installation, the interior draws on greenhouse structures and barley cultivation, using translucent materials, suspended elements, and integrated lighting to create a light and distinctive retail environment.

The store is conceived as an international showcase for the Icelandic skincare brand. The design translates the brand’s scientific foundations and botanical origins into a spatial experience connecting retail, product knowledge, and identity.

Located in a corner space within the city centre, the interior responds directly to the triangular geometry of the floor plan. Circulation is organized around a central installation that combines product display, information, testing areas, seating, and storage. This element forms the spatial anchor of the store while allowing movement along the perimeter and toward the street-facing windows.

Above the central installation, a large triangular luminaire spans the space. Suspended plants form a floating canopy that softens the interior and reinforces the connection to cultivation and growth.

Display cabinets are placed within the window bays and suspended from the ceiling, leaving the floor surface uninterrupted and strengthening the sense of lightness throughout the space. Integrated lighting within the display elements ensures even illumination while avoiding shadows on the products.

Material choices reference the biotechnology greenhouse where Bioeffect’s key ingredient, barley, is cultivated. Translucent polycarbonate panels, white steel profiles, integrated lighting, and living plants evoke the atmosphere of laboratory and greenhouse environments. Stretched green fabric threads applied to furniture, walls, and display elements recall the structure of barley and establish a distinctive visual identity for the interior.
