The Architect’s Newspaper published an in-depth feature on Basalt Architects on 5 August 2025. Written by Jesse Dorris, the article looks across the practice’s work in geothermal bathing, hospitality and cultural destinations, considering how Iceland’s lava fields, water, weather and light inform the architecture.

Published under the title “The Lagoon Whisperers”, the feature places Basalt’s projects within a wider discussion of architecture shaped by place. It highlights an approach in which materials and spatial sequences grow from close observation of the landscape rather than being applied as a separate visual language.
