Earth Lagoon Mývatn opens its doors

New expanded geothermal spa

Earth Lagoon Mývatn officially opened its expanded geothermal spa in July 2026, welcoming guests to a new wellness destination within the protected volcanic landscape of Lake Mývatn in North Iceland.

Designed by Basalt Architects, the new facility replaces the original bathing complex and triples the size of the existing buildings. The project also expands the geothermal lagoon, creating a bathing experience shaped by the site's unique geology.

The new complex includes geothermal lagoons, steam baths, changing facilities, a restaurant, reception and visitor amenities organised around the bathing landscape.

We look forward to sharing more of the project soon. In the meantime, here is a first glimpse of the project.
